SHREVEPORT, La., April 19, 2008 – Texas Woman’s University’s Courtney Arno-Templet won the uneven bars and balance beam titles at the 2008 USA Gymnastics Collegiate Championships, held at the Centenary College of Louisiana in Shreveport. Alise McDonald of Towson University and Courtney Hawkins of Centenary took top honors in the vault and floor exercise, respectively.

On vault, McDonald posted a 9.787 on vault to win, with Brittany Parker of Texas Woman’s University and Meredith Smith of Centenary tying for second at 9.737.

For Arno-Templet, a 9.875 was her winning score for both the uneven bars and the balance beam. On bars, Stevie Waldman of the College of William and Mary, who won the all-around title earlier in the championships, was second at 9.825. Texas Woman’s Amanda Walker and Towson University’s Christina Lindo tied for third at 9.750. For beam, Cornell University’s Megan Gilbert and Waldman both earned a 9.725 to tie for second.

Hawkins edged out Towson’s Annuka Almenoksa, who was second at 9.850. Cornell’s Brittany Howse placed third with her 9.825.

Earlier in the competition, Texas Women’s University won the team title.

Based in Indianapolis, USA Gymnastics is the national governing body for gymnastics in the United States. Its mission is to encourage participation and the pursuit of excellence in the sport. Its disciplines include men's and women's artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, trampoline and tumbling, and acrobatic gymnastics.
