INDIANAPOLIS, Ind., April 21, 2009 – 2008 Olympic team silver-medalist Samantha Peszek of Indianapolis has verbally committed to attend and compete for the University of California – Los Angeles in 2010.

“I’m so excited to be a Bruin,” said Peszek, who is 17. “I visited several schools and UCLA was just a perfect fit for me. I’ve wanted to compete for UCLA and live in LA for a while, so it’s a dream come true.”

Peszek, a junior at Cathedral High School in Indianapolis, was a member of the teams that won gold medals at the 2007 World Championships Team and the 2007 Pan American Games. Peszek has made high honors every semester at Cathedral and was recently invited to join the National Honor Society.

Peszek plans to compete in the 2009 Visa Championships in Dallas, Aug. 12-15, and her goal is to make the 2009 World Championships team. She trains with Marvin Sharp at Sharp’s Gymnastics.
