Liukin trades in leo for media duties at ’09 Worlds

LONDON, Great Britain, Oct. 13, 2009 – 2008 Olympic all-around champion Nastia Liukin of Parker, Texas, made the trip to London for the 2009 World Gymnastics Championships, Oct. 13-15, at The O2 Arena to cheer on her teammates and to help fans follow the World Championships.
Liukin is working on three media-related efforts while she is in London.

“Liukin ’Round London.” Liukin is featured in four special episodes of “USA Gymnastics: Behind the Team” that are specially branded “Liukin ’Round London.” Available at only att.net/teamusa, Liukin takes viewers around the sights and sounds of London, as well as a look at The O2, the gymnastics venue for the 2012 Olympic Games.

Television interviews. As part of Universal Sports TV’s coverage of the World Championships, Liukin will interview members of the U.S. Team after they compete. “I'm thrilled to be in London this week,” said Liukin, who has nine world and five Olympic medals to her credit. “It is a little bit different being in stands and not on the floor with my dad and teammates, but I'm enjoying the media opportunities, reporting and touring London. Gymnastics is what I have a passion for and no matter what role I take, it will be a part of my life forever.”
